Salt & Liquor was an exercise in stripping the unnecessary ornament and years of coverage to the original features of the existing pub. The walls, where possible, were stripped back to brick to provide texture. The original stained glass windows were made good, and in some cases reinstated. The rabbit warren partitions removed and the space opened up.
Internally this refurbishment is warm and textural. The ceiling is clad with tin tiles, and the furniture was chosen to promote a casual, comfortable feel along with the rich, antique flooring. The addition of new build kitchen and terrace area to the rear catches the sun in the mid afternoon and makes for a perfect alfresco drinking/dining experience. Whilst providing a modern, working kitchen to service the bar.
