SoHo

Liverpool [2013]

Central to this scheme was the reorganization of the plan to reposition the bar such that it could serve both the internal space and the public square outside. A new canopy has been introduced which protects customers from the elements and acts as a light filled advertisement to the venue. The canopy is very literally an extension of the internal space as it physically slides into it, becoming the ceiling of the venue. This becomes even more apparent late at night when the canopy lights up and throbs and changes colour to the music and party atmosphere.

As well as reinventing the venue and proving commercially very successful SoHo has perhaps more importantly reinvented Concert Square and reannounced it as an important civic element within the city.
